| Photoworks Digital Courses Whether you are a graphic designer, desktop publisher or web designer, a hobbyist, amateur or professional, beginner, intermediate or advanced, there is a course for you at Photoworks. We offer six-week courses for in-depth training and three-hour basic courses to fit any schedule! Along with our scanning and printing equipment, the Photoworks digital media lab includes 9 Macintosh G4 computers, 1 Macintosh G4 scanning station, and 1 Macintosh G4 instructor's station. Large screen projection, professional flatbed and film scanners and an Epson 3000 large format, high resolution inkjet printer are also at your disposal. Adobe Survival Thursday evenings, 6:30pm - 9:30pm November 2 - December 14, 2000 No class on November 23rd (Thanksgiving weekend) Instructor: Lucinda Morreale Cover the basics of desktop publishing. Create business collateral (brochures, business cards, stationary, envelopes and postcards) using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Develop impressive marketing materials, while learning the survival skills necessary for designing on the Macintosh computer. *Prerequisite: Basic working knowledge of the Macintosh computer. Tuition: $320 Lab Fee: $40 Basic Web Design Tuesday evenings, 6:30pm - 9:30 pm November 7 - December 12, 2000 Instructor: Mark Maloney It's not too late to pick up the basics of web design. A top Baltimore web designer will teach basic html coding and the tools of Macromedia Dreamweaver to those who need to make an impact on the web. *Prerequisite: basic working knowledge of the Macintosh computer. Tuition: $320 Lab Fee: $20 Intermediate Photoshop Wednesday evenings, 6:30pm - 9:30pm November 1 - December 13, 2000 No class on November 22nd (Thanksgiving weekend) Instructor: Faye Levine Build on and refine basic Photoshop skills by working more closely with additional tools, color, layering and compositing/montaging. Topics include color-changing, color to grayscale conversion, and basic production skills such as resolution issues and using Photoshop with other applications. *Prerequisite: Basic Photoshop or instructor approval. Tuition: $420 Lab Fee: $40 Photoworks three-hour introductory digital media and imaging courses: Scanning Friday evening, 6:30pm -9:30pm November 10, 2000 Instructor: Edgar Brandt This course teaches you to import your images via film or flat bed scanner into our Macintosh G4 computers. You will also become proficient in image manipulation, adjusting brightness and contrast, and performing color corrections, as well as learning to save files for printing on the Epson 3000 printer. Class discussions focus on resolution, image size management and scanning formulas. Tuition: $75 Macintosh I Session 1: Friday evening, 6:30pm - 9:30pm October 27, 2000 Session 2: Friday evening, 6:30pm - 9:30pm December 8, 2000 Instructor: Edgar Brandt This is a basic class on the Macintosh operating system. It includes information on control panels, Apple menu items, and application programs specific to the Mac. Tips on downloading software, allocating memory, and making and saving files are also discussed.
